AIYANA
FOUNDER

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Aiyana is a community organiser and multi-disciplinary artist whose work spans writing, music, theatre, and filmmaking.They are the author of Radical Companionship: Rejecting Pethood & Embracing Our Multispecies World and INNOCENCE & CORRUPTION: An abolitionist understanding of youth oppression (both published before their 18th birthday!).
Aiyana has founded many social justice projects, particularly those that focus on the liberation of nonhuman animals, children and young people, and neurodivergent people. Aiyana is Co-founder and Co-publisher at The Anima Print and Founder + Executive Director of NEUROMANCERS.

MICHA
COMMUNICATIONS + IMPACT LEAD
Micha is a writer and media strategist. She is the author of Mad World: The Politics of Mental Health, and has worked for outlets including the Guardian, HuffPost and gal-dem. She also does communications work for grassroots and abolitionist organisations.

CICI
CARE PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR
Cici (she/her) is an anti-speciesist mama, artist, and aspiring art psychotherapist. She has nearly two decades of experience working with children and young people with various forms of physical and neurodivergence. Care is an integral part of their personal, artistic, and working life so that is why she is the Care Programming Coordinator at NEUROMANCERS.

VIRGINIE
OPERATIONS + CAPACITY LEAD
Virginie (she/they) works with organisations to remember, design and practice different ways of existing together in interdependence. They come from grassroots organising in Paris, France, and their work now focuses on operations and governance, via the lenses of abolition, collective care and accountability.At NEUROMANCERS, Virginie is interested in building operational infrastructures that we, as minoritised and marginalised folks, can rely on. Outside of work, she can be found hiking, talking to trees, foraging berries, or learning a new random low-consumption craft.

ANNINGWAA
INFRASTRUCTURE LEAD
Anningwaa (pronounced: Aneewaa) is a Project, Production and Programme Manager with over a decade of experience delivering large-scale, community-centred cultural events and public programmes across the UK and internationally. She excites, inspires and engages others to explore the richness and complexity of the world around them.
Her work sits at the intersection of culture, community and care, creating spaces where people, particularly those historically marginalised, feel seen, safe and celebrated. Her practice is grounded in equity over tokenism, collective care and intentional leadership. She believes creativity is a powerful tool for joy, resistance and transformation.

Théma (pronounced: Tay-ma) is a Black lesbian, driven by justice and education, to support Black LGBTQ+ people.
She is deeply aligned with the values of NEUROMANCERS and believes in celebrating the uniqueness of the human experience. -

Anisa
ADVISORY BOARD

PEER SOLIDARITY FACILITATORAnisa (she/her) is autistic and ADHD, with a masters in International Human Rights Law. She has facilitated sessions discussing activist & abolitionist thinkers and movements and has provided peer support to fellow neurodivergent people through NEUROMANCERS. She also set up Surrey Anti Racism Community in 2020 and helped coordinate protests and events with it.
Disability justice should be at the heart of our movements. Anisa has been a point of contact and support for many neurodivergent people in her life. She been a part of NEUROMANCERS since the organisation’s inception.In her words, “The inclusion of abolitionist thinking, and the centering of justice is not something you often see in spaces set up for neurodivergence. NEUROMANCERS is the first and only of its kind that I came across, and I knew I wanted to be involved immediately.”

Star
ADVISORY BOARD
Star (They/It/We/Us) is a plural DID system, existing in a disabled and mad body of Black and Asian heritage, void of gender. They are a DIY PhD student with a subject focus on what decolonising authenticity looks and feels like within and outside of today’s society and what tools are necessary to do so.
In their own words, “NEUROMANCERS is a truly unique space that has been able to diffuse generational barriers, create spaces that offers niche support that, all through peer-peer experiences.
We stand against ageism, speciesism, sanism, colonialism, and carceral approaches to mental health care. This organisation is the brainchild of a young person, which is extremely important to us as we support Aiyana to continue empowering and advocating for other young people.” -

Esmé
SAFEGUARDING LEAD
Esmé (they/she) is a sapphic, asexual, neuroqueer, vegan, intersectional anarcho-feminist. Their daily labour (paid and unpaid) centres compassionate care to those traumatised by interpersonal and institutional abuse.They are particularly interested in psych abolition and children's liberation, with a focus on radically realising liberated and autonomy-affirming safeguarding — influenced by their background in anti-fascist feminist organising and activism as a former member of the Women's Campaign at the University of Cambridge.
They have held roles such as Children's Independent Sexual Violence Advisor, Designated Safeguarding Officer, EDI Lead, Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, and have spoken at the Rape Crisis England and Wales National Annual Conference.
Esmé currently chooses to dedicate their time as a carer to someone deeply beloved.

Jess
ADVISORY BOARD
Jess is a non-binary service (ref)user, and storyteller from the Philippines. They relocated to Scotland in their artistic-activist-academic pursuit of ‘doing’ Mad Studies.Jess is a recipient of a funded PhD studentship at Queen Margaret University Edinburgh. Their current research project focuses on co-creating autoethnographic theatre to explore intersecting identities and marginalisations as experienced by Mad people of colour and migrant communities.
Jess graduated from New York University (MA Drama Therapy, 2019). Recent theatre work was with Colleidoscope Repertory Theatre Company, NYU Theatre and Health Lab, and National Queer Theater (US). They also have a background in peer support and worked at a 24/7 residential crisis respite before moving abroad.
Jess is committed to fostering anti-oppressive and non-carceral spaces for community care.
